The Mystic Man felt the disapproving gaze from the office doorway as he adjusted the red, blue, and purple plaid waistcoat before picking up his jacket. It was getting a bit snug around his middle. “There is a reason for my garish choices this morning, Franklin.”
His Steward merely raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t say anything, sir.”
“Once you can accept the universe as matter expanding into nothing that is something, wearing stripes with plaid comes easy.” He brushed the striped trousers, green and yellow, and quite comfortable. Why his valet kept hiding them in the back of the wardrobe was a thornier issue than Franklin’s fashion taste. “One should pay attention to details, but never at the expense of the larger picture.”
“Hopefully none of the applicants are vision impaired, unlike the tailor that made those garments.”
The Mystic Man frowned. “I don’t want anyone on my protection detail that can be distracted by something as inconsequential as garments.”
“Indeed, sir. Your first appointment is here. Shall I show him in?” Franklin left as soon as his employer nodded. The Mystic Man sat back at his desk and opened the folder of credentials for the first applicant.

This is an important test for a possible bodyguard. ;)
I really hate that canon killed the Mystic Man. He is loads of fun.
